After you record on Zencastr, you can listen to your recording either by using Zencastr’s Preview feature or by downloading the separate participant tracks and playing them in an external editing software. Which option you choose depends on whether you want to do a quick check or a full-quality review.
Option 1: Listen in Zencastr with the Preview Feature
Zencastr’s Preview lets you quickly listen to your audio and watch your video for a quick review without downloading files. All participant tracks play together, so you’ll hear the full conversation as it happened.
While the preview playback is slightly reduced in quality, especially the video resolution, the quality is higher than that streamed during the live recording. This makes it a fast, convenient way to check for common setup issues like incorrect input selections, poor audio levels, background noise, lighting issues, or video framing problems.
To review your recording in Preview:
On the Recording Page, click Stop to end the recording.
You and your guest should stay on the page until all files finish uploading.
Once uploaded, click Preview above the participant tracks.
Click Play to play back your recording.
Note: Preview takes you out of the Recording Page. If you have a guest, you’ll need to navigate back to your dashboard and rejoin the session after reviewing.
Option 2: Listen by Downloading Tracks and Using an External Editor
For a full-quality review, download your separate tracks from Zencastr and play them back in any audio or video editing software. You can download files from two places:
Downloading Files from the Recording Page
To download recording files from the Recording Page:
From your Dashboard, on the Sessions tab, click the session name.
Click the Join Session button to open the Recording Page.
On the Recording Page, on a participant’s track, click the ↓MP3 button and then the popup to download that file.
Repeat for the ↓WAV button and the ↓MOV button (if you recorded video).
Repeat for all participants.
Result: The individual files will download to your computer.
Downloading Files from the Sessions Tab
To download recording files from the Sessions Tab:
From your Dashboard, on the Sessions tab, click the session name.
Locate the recording on the Recording tab.
Click the 3-dot menu (⋮) next to the recording name.
Select Download from the dropdown.
Result: All recording files will be zipped and downloaded to your computer.
Once downloaded, import the files into your editing software, line them up to start at the same point, and play them back.
