Produce: Video Layouts

Descriptions of the video layouts options in Produce for recordings done in the Record Audio and Video mode.

Updated over a week ago

Zencastr Produce is a paid feature that enhances and mixes together the separate audio (and video) files for you and your guests into a combined file.

When mixing the video for a recording done in the ‘Record Audio and Video’ recording mode, Produce offers users the flexibility to choose from a variety of Video Layouts.

Note: Users on the legacy Creator+ plan will have a Zencastr watermark on the final video mix. Users on paid plans can remove the Zencastr watermark and also add their own watermark/logo.

Aspect Ratios

Aspect ratio is the width-to-height ratio that determines a video’s orientation and shape. Select the aspect ratio before selecting the video layout as how individual participants' videos appear within the layout depends on the aspect ratio.

The three aspect ratios are:

  • 16:9 - Final video has a horizontal, landscape orientation.

  • 9:16 - Final video has a vertical, portrait orientation.

  • 1:1 - Final video is square.

Zen Layout

For 1 to 6 participants.

Uses AI technology to detect the active speaker and displays that participant in a larger screen while placing the other participant(s) in smaller screens. When the active speaker changes, the participant who is on the larger screen automatically switches.

Note: The switch between speaking participants is an effect that is applied after the postproduction is run. As such, at this time, the switch is not viewable on the Produce Page preview, but it will be seen in the final video mix.

Active Speaker Layout

Horizontal Layout

Vertical Layout

Arranges the videos in a vertical, stacked orientation and crops them (i.e. removes the left and right spacing) as needed for the selected aspect ratio.

Side Grid Layout

Arranges videos asymmetrically so one participant’s video is larger and the rest of the participants’ videos are smaller and equally sized.

Side Grid 2 Focused Layout

For 5 or 6 participants.

Arranges videos asymmetrically so two participants’ videos are larger and the rest of the participants’ videos are smaller and equally sized.

Symmetry Layout
