How transcripts display on Zencastr episode pages and how to edit and download them.

Updated this week

For users on paid plans hosting podcasts on Zencastr, episode transcripts are automatically displayed on Zencastr episode pages for shows in English, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish. Transcripts enhance accessibility and searchability, making your episodes easier for all audiences to access and helping new listeners discover your show.

In this article:

What Episode Page Transcripts Are and Benefits of Displaying Them

For users on paid plans hosting a podcast on Zencastr in English, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish, Zencastr episode pages display a full transcription of the episode beneath the episode description.

The benefits of displaying transcripts on your episode pages include:

  • Enhanced Accessibility: Transcripts make episodes accessible to a wider audience, including those who are deaf, hard of hearing, learning a second language, or who simply prefer reading along. Expanding accessibility can boost listener engagement and inclusivity.

  • Improved Search Engine Optimization (SEO): Transcripts help Google index your episode content more effectively, improving its visibility in search results. With every word searchable, Google can surface your episodes based on key phrases and topics you discuss, making it easier for people to discover your show.

  • User-Friendly Navigation: Transcripts allow your audience to search for specific words or topics within an episode and tap on any word to start playback from that point. This is especially useful for listeners who want to quickly find and replay specific moments or sections.

Viewing Transcripts on Your Episode Pages

To view the transcript displayed on an episode page:

  1. On your Dashboard, click the Episodes tab on the left sidebar menu.

  2. Locate the episode you want to view.

  3. In Grid View, click the 3-dot menu under the episode image. OR In List View, click the 3-dot menu under the ‘Actions’ column.

  4. Select Open from the menu.

Result: You will be taken to that specific episode’s page where you can scroll down to see the transcript.

Getting Transcripts for Newly Published Episodes

When you publish an episode, whether from a Zencastr recording, a Zencastr postproduction, or an uploaded file, transcripts are automatically generated during the postproduction stage, which occurs before the episode is published. Once published, the transcript will be available on the episode page for your audience to access.

Getting Transcripts for Previously Published Episodes

If you move your podcast hosting to Zencastr from another provider, we will automatically start generating transcripts for your back catalog of episodes. This process takes time, as episodes are transcribed in order of relevance, with the most recent episodes prioritized.

Editing Transcripts Before an Episode is Published

Transcripts for new episodes are generated at the postproduction stage, allowing you to make any necessary corrections before publishing. Here’s how to edit transcripts for episodes based on whether they come from a Zencastr recording or an uploaded file:

Correcting words does not use postproduction credits as this does not alter the audio or video. 3. Select the word in the transcript to correct.
