You can upload an existing recording to Zencastr and use My Producer to turn it into a draft for editing. This lets you work with recordings you’ve already created. In this support article, we’ll walk you through uploading a recording.
Upload a recording
Follow the instructions below to upload a recording.
From the dashboard, click New Recording from the left navigation menu.
In the New Recording pop-up, choose Upload file.
Optional: The name will default to the name of the file. You can enter a different name if desired.
Click the > icon to update your language selection if needed.
Choose the file you want to upload and click Upload.
After the upload is complete, you’ll be taken automatically to the My Producer chat interface with your recording.
In the chat interface, enter Make a draft.
My Producer will start processing the video.
When processing is complete, My Producer will display information about the draft, including:

Estimated credit cost
Credit balance
Review the information, then click Yes, produce the draft, to continue. If you’re not ready, click Not yet.
Note: if you choose Not yet, you can always come back to the chat thread later to produce the draft.
Once you click Yes, produce the draft, My Producer will create the draft and begin rendering a preview. When the draft is ready, you’ll see a confirmation message in the chat.
When your draft is staged, you can click Library from the left navigation bar to view your recording or you can continue editing the video in My Producer.
FAQs
I uploaded my recording and it’s not in my library
Uploading a recording doesn’t automatically create an editable draft. After the upload completes and you’re taken to My Producer, enter Make a draft and select Yes, produce the draft to continue.
What if I’m not ready to produce my draft?
If you’re not ready to produce your draft, you can exit the My Producer chat and return at any time to the chat thread to produce the draft.
