Understanding the pre-recording health check

Who’s this article for? Hosts and guests

Before you record, Zencastr checks that each person is ready. When everything passes, you'll see the green Ready to record status, your signal that it's safe to start.

Tip: Ensure your guests see the green status before you start.

What it checks

The health check confirms that your browser, devices, and system resources meet the requirements needed to start recording.

  • Microphone access is allowed in your browser.

  • Your microphone is working.

  • Your camera is working when using a video recording mode.

  • The recording has been saved successfully.

  • At least 8 GB of RAM is available.

  • At least 10 GB of free disk space is available (tracks record locally first).

What do to do if the health check fails

If the pre-recording health check fails, check the following items.

  • Allow microphone and camera access, then refresh the page.

  • Close other apps and browser tabs to free up memory.

  • Free up disk space until at least 10 GB is available.

  • Use a supported browser: Chrome, Edge, or Brave.

  • Reload the recording room to run the health check again.
