This guide walks you through joining a Zencastr recording as a guest, from opening your invite link to finishing the recording. You don’t need a Zencastr account to join, and joining takes just a few steps. This guide covers joining a recording room using the Zencastr iOS app.
Quick tips
A few quick checks before you join a recording can help the recording go smoothly.
Make sure you’ve downloaded the Zencastr iOS app.
We recommend wearing headphones. Without them, your microphone can pick up other participants’ voices from your speakers, which creates echo.
Entering the guest green room
Each recording room has its own link, and your host sends it to you. Use the link or code to enter the guest green room, where you check your camera, microphone, and speakers before you enter the recording room.
Join with a recording link
Follow the instructions below to join with a recording link.
Click on the recording link.
The Zencastr iOS app will open.
Enter your name and click Next.
Join with a 5-digit code
Follow the instructions below to join with a 5-digit code.
Open the Zencastr iOS app.
Click Join room with guest code.
Enter the 5 digit code and click Join room.
Enter your name and click Next.
The green room
Tap Allow to give Zencastr access to your camera and microphone.
Tap the Settings button.
Review your camera and audio settings.
Tap Join to enter the recording room when you’re ready.
In the recording room
Once you join, you can manage your camera and audio and send messages. Your host controls the recording.
Camera and audio
Review or change your camera, microphone, and speaker selections. Once the recording starts you’ll only be able to change your speaker settings.
Tap the Microphone icon to mute or unmute your microphone.
Tap the Camera icon to turn your camera on or off.
Tap the Settings button icon to review your camera and audio settings.
Messages
Messages let you communicate with everyone in the recording room without interrupting the conversation.
Tap the Messages icon.
Type your message.
Send it to the participants in the room.
Note: Messages aren’t included in the recording.
Once the recording starts
When the host clicks Record, a 3-second countdown begins. When the screen turns black, you’re recording. While you record, you can mute and unmute your microphone, turn your camera on or off, or send a message.
After the recording ends
After the host stops the recording, stay in the recording room until your tracks have finished uploading.
Important: Closing the app or leaving the room before uploads are complete can interrupt the upload process. |
