Posting and Scheduling Clips on Social Media

How to post clips to social media platforms immediately, schedule them for a later time or date, and modify and cancel scheduled posts.

Updated over 5 months ago

Zencastr Clips is a paid feature that transforms longer-form content into several shorter video clips optimized for a variety of social media platforms. Clips supports content in English, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish. AI Clipping uses AI to select the clips from your content for you, while Manual Clipping allows you to select the specific segments to clip.

Once you have created clips, connect your social media accounts to post them directly to these destinations from Zencastr.

Connecting social media accounts and posting to them is only available on active Grow, Scale, and Business plans. This functionality is not accessible on the trial versions of these plans.

In this article:

Before You Post - Important Points

  • Which social media platforms you can connect and post clips to depends on your plan.

    • The Grow plan allows you to post to Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts.

    • The Scale and Business plans allow you to post to Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Facebook, LinkedIn, and X (formerly Twitter).

  • Auto scheduling is available on the Scale and Business plans.

  • Edit your clips before posting them. Should you ever need to make changes after posting a clip, you will need to log in to each social media platform and manually edit each post.

  • You can choose which social media platforms to post a specific clip to. However, once a clip is posted to at least one social media platform through Zencastr, it cannot be reposted via Zencastr. This is due to many of these platforms having strict rules against posting the same content multiple times.

Connecting Your Social Media Accounts

To connect your social media accounts:

  1. On your Dashboard, click the Clips tab on the left sidebar menu.

  2. In the ‘Destinations’ list on the right side, click the + Connect button next to the social media platform that you want to connect.

  3. Click on Click to Link for the platform.

  4. Log in to your social media account.

  5. Click all authorization prompts to complete the process.

  6. Repeat steps 4-6 for each social media platform.

Auto Scheduling a Clip

Our auto scheduler creates a daily posting schedule to ensure consistent output. The auto scheduler slots clips to post daily at 10am in your local time. It automatically schedules the clip to post on the first available day, checking that no other clip is already scheduled on that particular social media platform for that date and time.

To auto schedule a clip to post to social media platforms:

  1. On your Dashboard, click the Clips tab on the left sidebar menu.

  2. Click the clip grouping image that contains the clip you want to post.

  3. Locate the clip and select/unselect the social media platforms you want to post to by clicking on their icons above the clip title.
Note: By default all connected social media platforms are selected, denoted by a blue outline around the platform logo.

  4. Click the +Schedule Post button below the clip.

  5. From the dropdown, select Auto Schedule.

Result: A message indicates that your clips have successfully been scheduled. The “Schedule Post” button changes to “Scheduled,” a clock icon appears next to each social platform logo, and the date and time the clip is scheduled to post appears at the bottom of the listing. When the clip posts, the “Scheduled” button changes to “Published” and a green check mark appears next to each social platform logo.

Changing or Canceling a Scheduled Post

The “Schedule” button changes to “Schedule Post,” the clock icons next to each social platform logo disappear, and the date and time the clip is scheduled to post disappears from the bottom of the listing. You may need to refresh the page to see these icon changes.

Viewing Clips By Post Status

By default, all clips are organized under clip groupings based on the date and time they were run. Within the clip grouping, clips are displayed and sorted by clip rating by default.

To view clips by post status, click the Clips tab on the left sidebar menu of your Dashboard. Click the clip grouping image. Then click the All menu at the top right of the page. Select Scheduled or Posted to see all clips that have been scheduled or posted or select Not Scheduled or Posted to see clips that have not been posted or scheduled to post.

Getting Links to Posts on Social Media

After a clip is posted, the link to the post on each social media platform becomes available on your Clips tab.

To get the link to the posts on the social media platforms:

  1. On your Dashboard, click the Clips tab on the left sidebar menu.

  2. Click the clip grouping image that contains the posted clip.

  3. Locate the clip and click the social media logos above its title.

Result: The links to the post open in new tabs.

To get the link to the post on Zencastr:

  1. On your Dashboard, click the Clips tab on the left sidebar menu.

  2. Click the clip grouping image that contains the posted clip.

  3. Click the Share Link arrow icon next to the clip.

  4. Click the Copy button next to the link.

Archiving Clips and Removing Posts

Archiving a clip removes the session from your main Clips list.

If the clip has been posted to social media accounts, archiving a clip also removes the post from Zencastr and deletes the post on some of the social media platforms. Clips posted to Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube Shorts and/or X (formerly Twitter) will be deleted from these platforms when they are archived in Zencastr. However, Instagram Reels and TikTok do not allow Zencastr or other apps to delete posts. If you need to delete a post from Instagram or TikTok, you will need to log into each account and manually delete the post.

To archive a clip that has been posted and delete it from Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube Shorts, and/or X:

  1. On your Dashboard, click the Clips tab on the left sidebar menu.

  2. Click the clip grouping image that contains the posted clip.

  3. Locate the clip and click the Archive button below it.

  4. Read the archive terms and type the clip name in the field on the confirmation modal.

  5. Click the I understand, archive button.

Result: A message indicates that your clips have been archived.
