Layout templates control how speakers and other visual elements are arranged in your clip. You can choose from automatic speaker layouts, grids, styled templates, show artwork, and other layout options. In this article, we’ll show you how to select a layout template for your clip.
Note: The list of templates adapts to how many participants are active, Zencastr only offers arrangements that fit the current number of people. See “Which layouts appear (by participant count).”
Getting started
You’ll have a few template options to choose from:
Active speaker: Automatically displays the participant who is currently speaking.
Zen: Displays a single speaker in a minimal layout. You can customize the speaker’s position and size.
Symmetry / Side Grid: Arranges multiple participants in split-screen or grid layouts.
Predefined templates: Applies a Zencastr-designed layout and visual style, such as Dreamwave, Open Skies, Forest Gradient, or Bokeh.
Show art: Displays your episode or show artwork.
Upload: Upload an image to use in the layout.
Saved settings: Reapply layout settings you previously saved.
Applying a layout template to a clip
Follow the instructions below to apply a template to your clip layout.
Click Library from the left navigation menu.
From the Recordings tab, find the recording with the clip you’d like to edit and click the three-dot menu.
Click Edit.
On the right side of the screen, click on the clip layout you want to edit.
In the toolbar, click the Templates icon.
Select the layout template to preview it automatically.
If you choose the Zen layout, you’ll have a few additional options:
Position: Choose where the speaker appears in the frame.
Size: Drag the slider to adjust how much of the frame the speaker fills.
Once you’ve selected your layout template your changes will be saved automatically.
If you need to undo a change, click Undo in the upper right corner.
