Who’s this article for? Hosts |
Zencastr is rolling out a new recording experience. If this is the version you’re using, you’re in the right place. If your recording room looks different, see this article instead.
Use the recording room settings to choose your audio and video devices and adjust recording quality before the recording starts.
Best practices
Setting up your devices and recording preferences before you begin can help prevent audio issues, echo, and poor video quality.
Choose your devices before you start recording. Switching devices during a recording can interrupt the track.
Use wired headphones and a dedicated microphone when possible.
Keep Echo Cancellation off when everyone is using headphones.
Configuring your recording room settings
Tip: To switch just your camera, microphone, or speaker, click the ^ button next to the Microphone or Camera icon.
Follow the instructions below to set up your recording room settings.
In the recording room, click Settings from the bottom menu.
In the pop-up that appears, from the General tab, review or change the following:
Name: This will be the name of your recording.
Call application: Use built-in call application. Only change it to external call application only if you’re using a third-party VoIP service, such as Zoom.
Click the Audio & video tab and review or change the following:
Camera: If you’re recording using Video & audio or Show video, Record audio modes, choose the camera you want to use.
Microphone: Choose the microphone (USB or headset) you want to use.
Echo Cancellation: Leave off when everyone is using headphones. Turn on if someone can’t use headphones.
Monitor: Turn on to hear your own voice while recording, or leave off if you don’t need live monitoring.
Click the Recording tab and review or change the following:
Recording mode: Choose the recording mode you want to use. You can’t change recording modes after you’ve started recording.
Maximum Resolution: Set the maximum video resolution, up to 4K. Lower the resolution if your device or connection is having issues.
Optional: If you’re recording a livestream, click the Live stream tab and review or change the following:
Destinations: review your connected destinations or connect them as needed.
Live Stream Orientation: choose the aspect ratio.
Your changes are saved automatically, when you’re done, click X, to close the pop-up.
To change or review your speakers, click the ^ button next to the Microphone icon.
What settings can I change once I start recording?
After you start recording, you can change your speaker settings. All other settings can’t be changed after you start recording. To view or change your speaker settings while recording, click the ^ button next to the Microphone icon.
