New recording experience: join your recording room as a host

Zencastr is rolling out a new recording experience. If this is the version you’re using, you’re in the right place. If your recording room looks different, see this article instead.

The recording room is where you set up your devices, invite guests, and control the take. As host, you'll get everything ready here before pressing record.

Joining and getting ready

Follow the instructions below to join your recording room.

  1. The room opens automatically after you create it, or you can access it from the Library.

  2. If it’s your first time recording in Zencastr, click Allow for camera and mic access.

  3. Check your camera preview; review or update devices in Settings if needed.

  4. Invite guests via link or email.

  5. Wait for all health checks to pass.

  6. Press Record.

Tip: After you stop recording, stay in the room until every track finishes uploading.

What's in the room

  • Record: Starts the recording after a 3-second countdown.

  • Room list: shows any guests in the room, their health check, and your guest management options.

  • Settings: manage recording room settings such as recording mode, your name, and camera and audio settings before you start recording.

  • Invite: Invite guests to the room.

  • Messages: Chat with participants in the recording room.

  • Footnotes: Mark moments during the recording.

  • Camera, microphone, and raise hand: Manage your personal recording controls.

  • Teleprompter: Use a script you’ve created in Zencastr during the recording.

  • Files: Check that your recording is uploading, confirm when all tracks have uploaded, and download the recording afterward.
